DIY Aphrodisiac Candles with Glitter

These aphrodisiac candles are so great for Valentine’s Day. You can give them to friends, your partner, or even keep them for yourself for that special night. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I wanted to make something that doesn’t only smell amazing, but also looks really cute too. I decided to go with silver because I love it, but you can use whatever color glitter you want. The best part about this DIY is the ingredients are cheap with the exception of the wax. I decided to go with soy wax, because it’s a nice scent holding, slow burning, smoke free wax that’s safe to burn in your home in the cold months.

Aphrodisiac Candle Ingredients

  • Soyaphrodisiac-candle-glitter-ingredients Wax Flakes (I got the 4LB box from Michael’s)
  • Glitter
  • A small glass jar
  • Candle wicks and sticks (I found mine on ebay or amazon)
  • Aphrodisiac scent (I found a pre-made one on amazon, but below I’ll tell you how to make your own)
  • A melting pot for your wax (I got mine at Michael’s, but you can use any type glass bowl or pot assuming you are willing to do the cleaning afterwards)

Instructions:

Melt your wax on a low temperature (it doesn’t need to be at a boiling point, just until all the wax is melted to a liquid). While the wax is melting, stick your wick to the bottom of the jar. If you find it’s not sticking, you may need to use some super glue, but usually these are pretty tough. Once the wax is completely melted, pour in about 20 drops of your essential oil and stir. This is a good way to get the scent throughout the whole candle. Pour your wax into the jar.

Once your wax is in your jar, add the glitter to the top while the wax is still a liquid. Do not mix! Mixing the glitter will cause the glitter to burn as the candle is burning and will cause a bad smell and smoke. Let the candle cool naturally to avoid sinking near the wick. To cool quickly you can put it in the fridge, just leave a little wax leftover in case of sinking you can fill the area.
